The budget cap for IPL mega auction 2025 for each team is INR 120 crore to build their IPL title-winning team. This budget includes player retention and auction expenses with a maximum retention of six players.

According to the IPL governing council, a total of 1574 players have registered their names to get auctioned for IPL 2025 with obviously the highest number from India (1165) followed by South Africa (91), Australia (76), and England (52).

After the closing window of retention and releasing of players on the 31st, a total of 46 players were retained across 10 teams where franchises collectively spent INR 558.5 crore. The highest purse available with Punjab Kings who just spent INR 9.6 crore by retaining only 2 players.

The lowest purse available for Rajasthan Royals as they retained a maximum of 6 players and were part of Indian Premier League auction with INR 41 crore only.
